Tri-Parish Religious Education: Developing a Spiritual Future
Religion classes are open to all children from grades one through twelve. Classes are held at the Assumption Catholic School building in Durand for Holy Rosary and St. Mary’s students in the public schools. Classes are also held at Sacred Heart Church for Mondovi and the surrounding area public school children. Classes begin in late September and conclude in early May. Youth Masses are celebrated with the children on 5th weekends from October through April.
The children recite the Rosary in May and October.
Advent wreath prayers are part of class during Advent.
Stations of the Cross are prayed during Lent.
Reconciliation is offered every year during the seasons of Advent and Lent.
First Reconciliation: Second grade students receive the Sacrament of First Reconciliation in early January.
First Holy Communion: Second grade students are invited to the Table of the Lord in late April or early May. Second grade students celebrate First Holy Communion at Sacred Heart and alternate between Holy Rosary and St. Mary’s.
Confirmation: Students begin preparing for Confirmation as freshmen in High School. They will Confirmed as juniors in the fall, if they have met all the Confirmation requirements.
RCIC: Rite of Christian Initiation for Children is a program for children ages 5 and older who have not been baptized. This program is also for children who are older and have not received Reconciliation or First Holy Communion.
RICA: Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is a series of sessions in which teens and adults are brought into the Catholic Church. These sessions begin in September and conclude after Easter. Candidates are brought into the Church at the Easter Vigil each year at Holy Rosary.
Vacation Bible School: Each summer. a theme is developed through Bible stories, games, crafts and food. These sessions are open to any child in the Tri-Parishes ages 5 to 18.
